How to make a smoker in Minecraft? Although not a critical building block in a Minecraft world, smokers can help players cook their food a lot faster than a plain furnace.
Early in the game, this object can be made for really cheap, so every player should have one in their base, whether it’s for speedrunning or for just a kitchen appliance. Cooking a stack of meat in half the time of a regular furnace is possible.
How to Craft a Smoker?
To make a smoker, you will need the following materials:
- 7 logs
- 8 cobblestone
In a Nutshell:
You can make a smoker by placing one furnace in the center and four wood, logs, or stripped logs around it in a 3×3 crafting grid. Any type of wood can be used. Simply click on the smoker and drag it into your inventory.
The following is a step-by-step tutorial on how to make a Smoker in Minecraft:
In order to craft a smoker, you will need a crafting table. The first step to building a crafting table is to make wooden planks from three of the newly acquired logs. Make sure you keep 4 logs whole for crafting the smoker block later on.
In the survival inventory crafting table, place the logs that were collected into one of the slots to make wooden planks.
After converting the logs into wooden planks, you can proceed to making a crafting table. You can read more about how to make a crafting table here.
The simplest pickaxe you can make using a crafting table can be used to collect your first pieces of cobblestone. Making a pickaxe begins with making the sticks for the handle. To make your sticks, you can use the survival inventory crafting table or the one you just created.
To make sticks, place two blocks of wooden planks above each other on either the left or right side of the square.
To make a pickaxe, you must interact with a crafting table. Next, in the crafting table, place a row of planks along the top and place two sticks under the middle plank. A pickaxe will be created, which can be used to collect cobblestone – a building block for a furnace.
Minecraft Furnace Crafting Guide
After you have collected at least eight pieces of cobblestone, you should open the crafting table menu to begin crafting the furnace.
Place eight pieces of cobblestone around the outside perimeter of the crafting GUI, leaving a blank square in the middle.
Once you have made a furnace, you can proceed to make a smoker with some of your remaining materials.
By placing that new furnace block you just made into the center space of the crafting table and surrounding it with four wooden logs in a diamond shape, you can make the smoker block. Make sure that all four corner spaces are empty.
The food items you have collected in your world can now be cooked in your new smoker.
How to use a Smoker?
When you right-click the smoker, the same way you enter the crafting table, you will be taken to the smoker’s GUI. The interface should look the same.
Open the GUI and place your raw food item in the top left-most space of the smoker. You will be able to cook it once you add fuel.
Add your form of fuel under the block or food item you wish to use. A bucket of lava, coal, charcoal, or anything made of wood can be used. This fuel will be used to cook your food.
You must now wait until the arrow fills completely. The arrow in the center of the furnace menu indicates how far along the cooking process is.
Each block and food item placed into the furnace fills up this bar individually. It resets once it is completely full. When the block/food is fully ready, it can be removed from the furnace and used.
When your object has melted completely, you can now reap the benefits of smelting and put the block to good use.
What foods can you cook in a smoker?
Every food item in Minecraft can be cooked by a smoker. Raw meats such as beef, chicken, mutton, rabbit, and a variety of fish are cooked in them. As cooked meat has a higher saturation level than raw meat, cooking your meat before eating it is beneficial, especially if you are low on hunger. You can also cook potatoes to make baked potatoes.
Can smokers be pushed by pistons?
Pistons can’t push smokers; nor can furnaces or blast furnaces.
Can smokers be found on the creative menu?
In the creative menu, you can find smokers in the decorative blocks panel.
When lit, what is a smoker’s light level?
Smokers have a luminance level of 13 when operational and in use. Smokers do not emit light when not burning fuel.
You have successfully built a furnace. For your first bit of fuel, you may want to mine three extra pieces of cobblestone to make a stone pickaxe; then you can use your wooden pickaxe to cook your food.
